The Raven had first touched down in a small town in Germany named Goldkrone, ironically one of the few cities in the world with a still complete wall built around it. When it appeared, no one knew from where this gargantuan sentient monster came from, but it wasted no time in letting the world know its presence.
It darkened the skies and spread chaos throughout the region, covering the land in a black cloud of malicious crows, all demanding that they give them "the Prince's heart". There was only one strange force that seemed to be able to battle against this menace, and all most could see of it was a flurry of flower petals in the air that flew hither and fro.
The people of Germany were baffled at this seemingly extraterrestrial invader in their midst, and the government spared no time in declaring a state of emergency and sending in troops to free the town from its clutches.
The battle was fierce and astonishing to watch. This being was obviously used to terrorizing a populace into submission, but it was not prepared to have it fight back with ammunition and flying vehicles from a time that the Raven had never experienced. A barrage of countless missiles and bombs sounded in the air.
The fighter jets that had entered the battlefield were bewildered to see that the flower petals in the air that seemed to be fighting against this Raven alongside them was in fact a person, and this superhuman of sorts was flying without any sort of technological aid, armed with nothing but a sword.
Though without a proper communication channel, with good eyes and spontaneous tactical cooperation, the superhuman and the German militia managed to drive the giant black avian away from the town and toward an uninhabited part of a nearby mountain range, where it lay low and hid to recover its injuries.
News of the attack spread like wildfire across the world. Countries that were well off enough to have an international militia offered to help against this black alien. The mysterious superhuman that had singlehandedly helped the German militia to fend off the creature's initial attack turned out to be instrumental in learning about the just-as-mysterious creature that had attacked the town. He met with the higher ups of the German leadership and talked strategy with them, with some shock on both sides as to the capacities of each other.
The superhuman claimed to be a prince of a land that no one had heard of, and indeed seemed to have come from a time long past, like the stories of old, with abilities in his arsenal that were nothing short of magical. But he in turn was surprised by the technological advances that lead to "people riding giant metal birds" into battle, and weapons that he had never seen before.
So began a long, long engagement that consisted of many skirmishes between the forces of Northern Europe and those of the Raven.

This was done for Club-Tutu's January anniversary contest, with the prompt being, "What if the Prince had not shattered his heart?"
This takes place in modern times, as it's unclear when the time period of Kinkan Town in canon takes place (which I have called Goldkrone here to match up with its inspired country that I have decided to place it in). This is under the assumption that perhaps before the town had been locked away by sealing the Raven around the town, it was in fact a town that had been a normal, modern-day one. (I had considered trying to peg the time into something like the early 20th century, but the research got a bit convoluted, and I just wanted to have the image of fighter jets shooting down the Raven, okay? XP ) I was wondering whether to have more of a personal narrative with dialogue and descriptions, but one I was running out of time, and two, it kind of gives it the feel of like a news report, which gives it a layer of realness when prose might make it seem more like a story.

Oooh, fighter jets shooting down the Raven! Better than biplanes, which bring up images of King Kong atop the old summit of the Empire State Building. I like!
